New fifth edition of Legal Commentary on GDPR (Plath) published

Publication News DSGVO

The 2026 edition of the Legal Commentary on GDPR (incl. BDSG and TDDDG) is now available via the publishers platform as Online First.

The newest edition offers comprehensive commentary on GDPR, BDSG and TDDDG in one volume. As before, the focus remains on GDPR, followed by commentary on BDSG and TDDDG.

Under the editorial responsibility of Dr. Kai-Uwe Plath, a remarkable list of renowned authors has gathered. Individual commentaries are successfully interlinked, especially where the GDPR provides national leeway for legislators. With a deliberate focus on business, the authors provide a pragmatic and opinionated classification of current case law, statements by supervisory authorities, EDPB guidelines, implementation in other European countries, questions of interpretation and literature references. Against this background, recitals of GDPR, numerous statements by supervisory authorities and the implementation of the regulations in other European countries were taken into account.

You can already benefit from numerous commentaries published in advance in the Data Protection Law advisory module, including on the principles of processing personal data, controllers and processors, supervisory authorities and employee data protection. Particularly noteworthy is the successful linking of the commentaries, especially where the GDPR provides national leeway for legislators.

Alongside, the commentaries on GDPR Codes of Conduct and GDPR Certifications (Art. 40 GDPR / Art. 42 GDPR) and its related procedural elements, monitoring  respectively certification (Art. 41 GDPR / Art. 43 GDPR) are readily available, to which Frank Ingenrieth, LL.M. duly (co-)authored.
